Nicer than your average sushi joint: Yotsuba in Ann Arbor
I had visited Yotsuba a few years ago, but didn’t take photos. All I remembered was that their sashimi slices were extremely generous, more than a centimeter thick, huge hunks of meat that felt more on par with little steaks than the thin strips of fish I’m used to. I thought that we were overdue for another visit!
I really liked the feel of Yotsuba, everything from the garden out front to the wooden dividers, to the special booths with mats that require you to take off your shoes.
I definitely felt like Yotsuba was nicer than most sushi options downtown like Totoro or Sushi.com. Their salad was nicer and larger than the usual iceberg lettuce ones you see a smaller sushi restaurants, and my meal came with udon instead of the all too familiar miso soup in a black and red bowl. Sometimes I don’t feel full after sushi, but I couldn’t even finish my meal here – portions are definitely generous. Some Yelp comments mention service issues, but during the lunch we had here, service was prompt and pleasant. It’s a bit of a drive down Washtenaw, but I thought Yotsuba was well worth the trip!
Check them out on Yelp or at their website!
I do like that place, especially since there’s almost always a Groupon for them…
