I can’t believe that a food court could have so many delicious offerings that throw me back to my childhood; I can’t believe how authentic and delicious the food is here.

Only a tiny counter, can seat a handful of people at most.
Delicious, also with hand-pulled noodles and I wish I had more room in my belly.
Pao mo soup – pieces of broken bread in soup.
I loved the little pickled garlic that came with everything.

Which do you prefer, Bon Chon or KyoChon? We went for Bon Chon this rainy day, it’s a lot moodier than Bon Chon’s bright white walls. I’d say it’d make a nice late night Korean Fried Chicken place. The wings and strips were super flavorful, and I liked the silver tin provided for bones. Yelp; website.

We went to BonChon before so it was only fair that we try out KyoChon, just down the street, a brighter interior and slick food videos playing at all times. We made the mistake unfortunately of not getting a flavored chicken and so ended up with bland chicken sticks. No one to blame but ourselves, sigh. Will have to try again next time around. Although I was drawn here by the hand-pulled and knife-shaven noodles, I was surprised that what I enjoyed the most were the dumplings! We started with curry chicken dumplings and then got some pork chive dumplings that were also fantastic. It also happens to be BYOB and cash only, which there seem to be a lot of in Philly. Service was prompt despite how busy the restaurant was and portions were generous. (Yelp; website)
The name of this little submerged restaurant is quite informative. We got both bubble tea and crepes and both were fine. (Yelp

Living just minutes from the ocean, I have tried to make an effort to incorporate more seafood into my dining. I may have outgrown the dislike of fish inherent to most childhood palates, but I still find myself gravitating towards land meats, sushi being the one exception. I pushed my boundaries by ordering the raved-about bouillabaisse at Atelier Florian, a lovely space on Chapel with a European atmosphere and bonus dollar oysters during happy hour (4-6:30PM). While objectively wonderful, I found myself still preferring the delightful Florian Sushi with soy caramel and wasabi aioli and warm sushi rice. Cocktail “verbs and a fraise” put a smile on my face.
