Snapshot: RM Champagne Salon in West Loop
We went downtown to see Newsies, which was much more fun and interesting than I expected it to be. Afterwards, we walked over to the West Loop for some dinner at RM Champagne Salon! I love how it’s tucked away behind this alleyway. It was pretty early in the evening, so we were one of the only patrons in the restaurant. Unfortunately, I left my camera at home and only had my iPhone to capture the experience.
I really loved the feel of the restaurant; it was like something out of a Pinterest board. There were candles over the fireplace, a lot of interesting light fixtures.
We started off with some oysters, three from the east coast and three from the west coast. After traveling to Boston and Seattle these last few months, and trying oysters from both places, I have to say I like west coast oysters much more. They’re smaller, but sweeter and not so salty!
The lobster deviled eggs were just okay. The salmon tartare was also pretty mediocre; it wasn’t very flavorful. 
I didn’t get a chance to try as much from their lengthy champagne list as I would have liked, but I read fantastic things about them online. I’d definitely like to come back sometime and just try their champagnes!
I was really not impressed by our entrees. The chicken was ridiculously salty. 
The mac and cheese was really bland. 
The steak only came with a few small pieces. Honestly, food-wise, this was a big disappointment.
Dessert was fun at least, we got to pick from this adorable dessert stand. Unfortunately, dessert wasn’t very substantial.
Overall, the meal was disappointing. The location is lovely and would be great for a date, but we just didn’t have a good experience. Check them out on Yelp or at their website. 
After we left the restaurant, we came across this delightful donut truck! These donuts were delicious! The best part of the night!
