CloverChows: Prime 16 in New Haven
There are days when I’ve had a really good workout (yay Fitocracy!), under my MyFitnessPal calorie goal, and all I want is a delicious burger to fill my belly. We stopped by Prime 16 because where there’s a name like that, there’s got to be good burgers. We weren’t disappointed. The Maui Burger, pictured above, was fantastic, so much so that although we’re usually pretty good about sharing, we were fighting for bites on this juicy baby. The interesting array of toppings were fun, and didn’t detract at all from the fantastic patty at the heart of the sandwich.
There’s a nice atmosphere to the place, it’s dimly lit, lots of wood accents. Service was a bit slow but it was very crowded with only two bartenders serving our section, running as fast as they could.
It was Happy Hour, but to our disappointment these were the only two drinks that had any real discount. Fortunately, they were built strong and one drink was plenty for the duration of the meal. There’s also supposedly a good beer selection on tap, but I’m not much of a beer person.
I definitely want to come back to try some more of their fancy burger options – honey truffle sounds especially amazing. The Cowboy, which comes with a fried egg, also sounds delicious but messy. There are Cajun burgers and Mediterranean burgers as well.
The only meh part of the meal was this goat cheese and flatbread cracker appetizer we got, very plain, would not recommend. Otherwise, fantastic burgers and creative options!
