CloverDrinks: Peeled Juice Bar in Evanston
On sleepy afternoons, I love nothing more than a fresh juice to pick me up and get me through the day. I’m not big on coffee anytime after 6AM, because then I have difficulty getting to sleep at night, so a fruity (or vegetable-y) drink is perfect. I was devastated when Glassbox closed down. Luckily, there’s lots of juice places popping up – one recently opened in the Whole Foods on Washtenaw, which makes shopping that much less painful.
This particular post actually covers a juice bar I visited when I was back in Evanston. It replaces a froyo shop next to Noodles and Company. Its Yelp is ridden with posts about a Juice Cleanse Groupon that they offered, and apparently had trouble filling. However, I just went in for a fresh squeezed juice and had a pretty good experience. Partway through making my juice, the giant juicer machine clogged, so I was able to witness its fascinating disassembly and all the fragments of vegetables that built up inside it. The girl working there very nicely apologized for the wait and to my great relief, changed gloves before going back to making my juice.
This is the Life Support: green leaf, carrot, apple, beet, lemon and ginger. It was refreshing and delicious! I definitely recommend trying some of the samples they put out (usually extra from making the juice), because some of the samples I tried were fantastic and others were downright disgusting. Different tastes for different people, I suppose.
Check them out on Yelp or at their website!
